For the average person, $30-$50 is a more reasonable price range. I ain't afraid to admit that I am a baller on a budget. Give me some cheap shoes baby!

One option for getting cheap shoes is to go for an alternative style such as Vans or Converse All-Stars. These are CLASSIC styles, and even people in the trendiest town around (Los Angeles) are rocking these shoes all the time. From Ashlee Simpson to Snoop Dogg to Avril Lavigne, and Reggie Miller, you'll see celebrities wearing Chuck Taylors and Vans all day in LA. These will run you as little as $20 (maybe even less if you get a gently worn pair) or $50 if you get them brand new. Even superstars wear cheap shoes!

Vintage shoes are all over the place. A lot of sneaker enthusiasts don't even know that the Nike Dunk is a vintage shoe, in a sense. It was originally released in 1985, which was over 20 years ago. They are always cool and classic. How can you make money off of true vintage shoes (shoes that you find in thrift shops or in your dad's closet)?

FINDING VINTAGE SHOES
Before you can make money, you need to find your vintage shoes first. You can have luck at finding cheap shoes in Goodwill stores, independent thrift stores, garage sales, or your relatives' closets. I was lucky
enough to find a pair of fire-red Jordan IVs in my grandma's attic. They belonged to my uncle, but I didn't find out until I sold them on eBay for $100+. I offered to split the profit with him, but he refused. A friend of mine found two pairs of Manolo Blahniks in a simple old thrift shop. I guess the employees didn't recognize the brand name and priced them at less than $10 each. She flipped those into a nice profit.

RESTORING AND REWORKING YOUR VINTAGE SHOES
1. You can rework them into new classics by cleaning them, repainting them, and swapping out the laces.
2. You can add an iron-on team logo or sew-on patch that matches the color scheme of the shoe (hi-top vintage shoes, vintage basketball shoes, vintage running shoes).

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro: Where to find them for cheap

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro shoes are a classic fashion statement. Many consider them to be eternal because they are simple, not too big, not to small, and low profile. While high-tops can be considered immature at times, SB Dunk Low Pro can be worn with (and look good with) shorts, pants, skirts, or no pants at all (if you swing that way).

I personally think that SB Dunk Low Pro on a girl in a skirt are sexy. They give me the impression that she is a lady, but she knows how to keep it casual sometimes. I like wearing Dunk Lows myself because they are comfortable, I can pick from all the different color schemes (to match my outfit), I can even have them customized if I want.

In general, there are so many Nike Dunk styles to choose from. The Jordunk or Air Jordan-inspired Dunk is a favorite of many. You can see it pictured here. I like how they are SB Dunk Low Pro. Though the Dunk is also a favorite of mine, I consider it to be a totally different sneaker than Dunk Lows. Overall I feel that SB Dunk Low Pro are more versatile and casual than the Dunk Hi. Both feel classic, but my sneaker of choice is the Dunk Low. I can't help but notice when somebody wearing SB Dunk Low Pro passes by me on the street. I'll elbow my friend and ask if they saw those shoes. Or if the shoes were cool enough, I'll definitely give them props. Dunk lows have been rising in popularity lately, and some say that they are "out". I love the style, and I don't care how many people love the style too. Liking them is my personal preference. Don't tell me to step up my shoe game. I liked Justin Timberlake when the first N'Sync album came out. Now that SO many more people like him, I'm not going to stop just because he's so big. Don't tell me to step up my music game. (This may have been too much information, haha) And with that, I'll say once more that SB Dunk Low Pro are cool, and I'm sticking to my story.

Nowdays there are lots of sneakerheads and collectors who wait in line for the latest releases of the SB Dunk or other pairs of the Nike Dunk. Collecting and rocking vintage sneakers is a lost art that not many people take the time to appreciate. In Los Angeles, many people rock Vintage Chuck Taylors, aka Converse All Stars, in both new and beat-up condition. Vintage Vans have become a recent hit as well, with track bike enthusiasts and hipsters rocking them all torn up and worn. Sometimes people simply buy new shoes and wear them out so much that they look Vintage. These 2 shoes (Chuck Taylors and Vans) already have a vintage look anyway. Other modern shoes that have a vintage feel include the Nike Blazer SB, and the Nike Waffle Racer.

Where can you find vintage sneakers? The obvious and answer is vintage shops and thrift shops. This is for good reason, because if you are patient, dig long enough, and have a wide range of shops to choose from, there is a good chance that you will come across a pair.

You might be able to find some pretty good second-hand shoes at Crossroads, Beacons Closet, or Buffalo Exchange. However, if you want TRUE vintage sneakers, then you'll need to dig in TRUE vintage stores. The only chain vintage store that comes to mind is Goodwill, and that works just fine. Drive around, ask around, and look around for vintage stores. In my hometown there are 2 independent thrift shops right by my house and I am really lucky. In time you will get to know the patterns of the store (when their weekly sale takes place, when they restock their shelves, and what their specialty is). For example, one store by my house has a half-off sale every Wednesday. The other store is really good at clothes, but bad at shoes.

At my first store, I found an excellent pair of New Balance 990s, in good condition. Now THAT is a classic shoe, and I was happy to pick up the pair for $8. If you are patient, eventually you will find vintage sneakers that are perfect for you, in your size, and a style that will have everybody else asking, "Where did you get those?!"

The Nike Dunk was introduced by Nike in 1985. It was originally designed for basketball, and the paneling was designed to improve basketball game performance. In the shoe's early years, Nike signed some college basketball teams to sponsorships and created Dunks that matched the schools' team colors. These schools included St. Johns University, Villanova University, the University of Iowa, the University of Kentucky, the University of Michigan, the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and the University of Maryland College Park. Which Nike Dunk is the hottest right now? That is the question that many sneaker aficionados will debate until six in the morning.

Certain styles of Nike Dunks will always be highly regarded as classic. Use of unique materials and themed shoes generated lots of interest from collectors. For instance, pairs of Denim Nike Dunks featured an exterior crafted entirely of denim material. Furthermore, the Dunk Low Pro SB Supreme Cements incorporated patterns and elements of old school Air Jordan sneakers. In addition, the Nike Heineken or "Heiny" Dunks used the color scheme and logo from Heineken Beer. These are all considered rare, collectible, and will undoubtedly fetch a high price on eBay. Some of these shoes came out years ago and in limited numbers, which makes them even more desirable.

A great example of this is the Nike SB What the Dunk shoe. Pictured above, it is a mash-up of all the hypest Dunk SB's ever made.
